QUALITY
McM carries the Bureau Veritas certification for its ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System for the coating and preparation of steel and concrete surfaces. MCM management has a hands-on policy in all aspects of the business and fully believes that quality is not inspected, but is an integral part of all coating preparation and application. All clients are provided with detailed Inspection and Test Plans; Working Procedures; and Inspection Records; that meet their specification criteria.

McM’s Health and Safety Policy is to operate within the bounds of prescribed regulations and customer requirements and therefore MCM endeavours to ensure that the health and safety of all their employees are provided for by ensuring a safe working environment, whether in the workshop or on-site. All required personal protective equipment (PPE) is issued to individuals (task specific), it is all certified, fully checked on a regular basis and training is provided to all employees on the correct use and care of the PPE issued. Regular Toolbox Talks are held and task specific toolbox talks form the basis of creating awareness for all tasks to be undertaken.

CASE STUDIES
ExxonMobil / Subsea7 / Belmet – Saxi Batuque Project
This project required a multi-coating corrosion protection system for 32 flowline end termination (FLET) structures designed for the Saxi and Batuque Field Development located offshore Angola. These subsea structures required a minimum corrosion protection lifespan of 15 years and all coating methodology, coating thickness, substrate adhesion and coating testing was performed by third party inspection authorities under the auspices of ExxonMobil.
PetroSA / Subsea7 / Belmet – South Coast Gas Development Project
McM was contracted to apply a multi-coating corrosion protection system for seven pipeline end manifold (PLEM) structures for the South Coast Gas development Project offshore Mossel Bay in South Africa. These structures that were laid in the Indian Ocean required a minimum corrosion protection lifespan of 15 years and all coating methodology, coating thickness, substrate adhesion and coating testing was performed by third party inspection authorities. A portion of the corrosion protection system involved the application of compression coatings and this aspect was performed by a global leader in pipeline coatings with McM offering on-site support where required. This project allowed McM to gain valuable insight and experience in offshore pipeline coating methods.
